Misty is a dance film that weaves a tribute to African-American women of the Jazz Era (1920–1940) with the Art Nouveau architecture of Brussels, exploring how bodies, movement, and space tell intertwined stories. Through jazz dance, the film reflects on memory, visibility, and the political legacy of women whose artistic lives have often been erased, drawing inspiration from historical archives and collectives. Set within the emblematic De Ultieme Hallucinatie, the film inhabits the building’s rooms as sites of transmission, linking past and present through dance, community, and shared experience.
The Old Soulz and The Jazz Maniacs, joined by The Jassettes, present a series of stunning live performances: a collection of thoughts and dances related to the early Black American Jazz era. Come and share their love for jazz, its culture, history and legacies today.
Expect some hot and cool BLUES, SWING, BEBOP, MAMBO, TAP, LATIN JAZZ, CHARLESTON, CHORUS LINE, LINDY HOP, and inspirations from great figures like JOSEPHINE BAKER CAB CALLOWAY CONSUELO HARRIS MAYBEL LEE and other lesser known but extremely influential dancers of the time.
